Avocado Juice @ Alexandra Village

Posted by icyelite on April 5, 2009

Alexandra Village is the best place to have avocado juice. Whenever someone sees me drinking avocado, they will tell me where is the best avocado in Singapore. Everyone’s answer is Alexandra Village (AV). Its the stall with a big avocado as a decoration for the stall. There are 2 avocado stalls side by side, so look out for the stall with a big avocado. If I remember correctly, the name of the shop is called “Avocado” too. Lol.

What’s the difference between this stall’s avocado and the others?

Compared to what I had drank before:

Color:The color of the avocado from AV are greener, darker as compared to the others. The ones that I usually drink are lighter green and near to white color. I guess alot of milk had been added, which explains the white color avocado juice.

Taste: It has a stronger taste of avocado while the lighter color of other stalls had more milk taste.

Price: $2 each for a big cup from Avocado, but $2 too from other stalls but smaller cup.

Next time, if you want to drink avocado juice, remember to visit Avocado @ Alexandra village.

Bad Experience at Werkz Photography

Posted by icyelite on March 6, 2009

I had a bad experience with Werkz Photography. Not sure whether it is the day that I had chose or there are always alot of people at Werkz. It was a rush, unprofessional experience. When I visited Werkz, its still at the old place near Sim Lim Square. Now they had shifted to near Lavender Mrt station.

The day when I went to Werkz, there are alot of people queuing to take their graduation potraits with their family too. I was given a small corner to put on my graduation gown with my family, everyone sharing a small mirror. I wanted to slowly wear my grad gown but the person was rushing me. I felt that my graduation gown was still in a mess but he says it looks ok. In actual fact, my gown seems to be slouching behind and my white top is in a mess. Its when I keep complaining to him that he approach to help me tidy up my clothes. When I’m done, the guy asked me to faster go in to take the photo shoot while he went to help the rest of my family members.

When shooting, the photographers arranged my clothes again and tell me how I should pose myself. For the first few single potraits, I was similing happily but later the photographers told me not to smile too much as its showing too much of my teeth which they felt that its not nice.

After single portrait, I’m still waiting for my brother to had his graduation found and wore properly. So the photographers asked me to take picture with my parents first, whether I will want to purchase the picture later is my choice.

Werkz promised me that there will be Wollongong’s graduation gown. When we reached there, they did not prepare it in advance. They searched for it last minute. Initially, they just gave another color graduation gown to my brother. My brother was pissed off when Werkz had promised me and they told my brother its okay to wear different color, they will do photoshop later. They had no choice, so they went to look for it again. Finally, my brother got his graduation found and wore and we are ready for family potraits. Last year, when we took our family potrait at Gloria Studio, the old couples were so friendly and they made everyone smile, alot of shots were taken. Gloria makes sure everyone is smiling by having some jokes, every single shot, they arranged our clothes too.

This time, Werkz did not put in the effort to make everyone smile happily. The result of the family portrait is just a rush and bad photo taking session with lots of photo editing done. I would say that their photo editing is superb and “superb”. They did so much editing that I felt my mum was drawn out rather than looking natural.

Myle’s One Year Old Birthday 2009

Posted by icyelite on March 1, 2009

I just got back from Myle’s One year old birthday celebration. Who is Myle? He’s my colleauge’s son. He has big rounded eyes and a chubby cheeks that makes me feels like pinching it.

He’s a very handsome boy today but he cried twice today. He cried when he sees alot of unknown people and he cried again when he heard the loud party popper sound. Though he cried, he still looks very cute.

Beep Beep!

Look at what my colleagues and myself had bought for him. Looks cool hur? His dad actually requested for this. Initially, we wanted to buy a motor toy car that his dad can control where he is going but this motor toy car is too expensive, out of our budget. Sorry myle, couldn’t get you such a stylish car, we wanted to buy the engine for you first and the car body next year, but your dad disagrees. Lol.

Mice Cheese Cake Mouse and a cherry on cheese cake

I’m sure Myle had enjoyed his birthday celebration, his parents had organized for him. Guess what? He had a big cheezy cake with lots of little mice on top of the cake from Jakarta. Woot! Plus a photographer to take all the pictures and his grannies making delicious foods.

His grand-aunt makes nice and beautiful kueh lapis which we seldom see in Singapore. How I wish I can learn how to do this too.

Home made Kueh Lapis

His parents really took alot of effort organizing this party. They invited alot of friends and coincidentally all had a baby with them. After singing birthday song, they made all the babies sitting together and took a picture. There are bigger kids too, running around, snatching for balloons. At the end, all kids and babies got a big bag of goodies bag home. For gal, they get a pink-cloth goodies bag while guys get a blue-cloth goodies bag. For us adults, we actually had those additional small blue bags of goodies. Lol, it contains a pencil, pencil holder and lots of sweets and chocolates from Australia.

Till now, can you imagine how grand Myle’s birthday is? His parents really spent alot. Wondering will I do the same for my own child in future?

Back from Hong Kong

Posted by icyelite on December 23, 2008

I just came back from Hong Kong. Tried their vegetarian food from a restaurant. Sadly to say, this is the one and only restaurant that I had tried due to time constraint otherwise, we could have more time trying other restaurants too and more of their local foods. =)

As I’m very busy with work recently, I will try to spend sometimes blogging about my Hong Kong Trip. Stayed tuned for more exciting posts.
